Mosmieri

Mosmieri is a young, 'boutique winery' that produces quality wines in Georgia. Mosmieri makes both orange wines according to the traditional Georgian method in the qvevri (clay pot), as well as a range of modern wines.

Mosmieri is the life project of the German Joerg Matthys. After years of preparation, his dream wish was fulfilled in 2015: he made wines from his own winery.

With help from Georgian oenologists he had found the ideal vineyards on sloping slopes in Kakheti near the town of Telavi. Joerg succeeded in persuading one of the best winemakers in the country, Goderzi Mamukelashvili, to make the wines. Another experienced Georgian, David Maisuradze, manages the vineyards.

Mosmieri has planted indigenous grape varieties: mainly Saperavi and Rkatsiteli. They make red, rosé, white and orange wines. The basement is equipped with the state of the art equipment. Steel tanks for the whites and rosé wines, oak barrels for the reds and a separate cellar with 24 qvevri's for the orange wines.
