Timbrus Polifonia Note 2 2021

Timbrus Purcari Estate is a fairly young Moldovan wine producer. They started winemaking in 2009 according to modern European standards. With 150 hectares of vineyards and modern cellar equipment. Unlike many other Moldovan wineries, Timbrus does not make bulk, but only premium wines with a designation of origin. The winemaker and co-owner is Spaniard Manuel Ortiz.

Terroir The vineyards are located near Purcari at an altitude of 150 meters above sea level on the same for wine so-called 'Golden' 45th latitude as Bordeaux. They are near the border with Ukraine. The soil here consists mainly of black earth with small amounts of sandy loam found, with a small amount of rubidium and iron. For the terroir, the proximity of the river Dniester and its floodplains is of great importance. They provide climatic stability and protect the vineyards from both severe frost and summer heat.
Harvest method Handpicked.
Vinification The wine is fermented in stainless steel barrels and then aged for a minimum of 12 months in French and American oak barrels.
Impression Aroma of plums, berries and gingerbread spices. In the mouth also spicy, licorice and warm. Ripe plums and cherries. Soft tannins.
Did you know? The Shiraz provides spiciness in this wine and the Malbec provides fresh acidity. And the Rară Neagră? That ensures that it is still typically Moldovan.
